"Empowered Through Education": Critical Maternal Health Knowledge
"I never imagined my postpartum journey would become a fight for my life. After my third trip to the emergency room with worsening symptoms, I felt defeated and scared. No one seemed to be listening to me about how sick I really was. That's when Nurse Talonda stepped in.
During my pregnancy, she had taught me how to advocate for myself at doctor's appointments, helping me find the right words to express my concerns. But when I was too weak and sick to speak up, she became my voice. She recognized the dangerous signs that others had missed - the chest pain, fever, chills, and severe fatigue weren't just 'normal postpartum symptoms.' She insisted on bringing in specialists and specifically requested both a cardiologist and infectious disease doctor to evaluate me.
Thank God she did. I had sepsis, and I ended up spending 8 heartbreaking days in the hospital, separated from my newborn baby. I couldn't breastfeed as planned, and those precious early bonding moments were stolen from us. The most frustrating part? This might have been prevented if the first hospital hadn't discharged me despite my elevated white blood cell count.
Talonda didn't just provide medical advocacy - she gave me confidence, validation, and support when I needed it most. She helped me understand that my symptoms weren't in my head, and my concerns deserved attention. Every new mother deserves someone like her in their corner, someone who understands that maternal health advocacy can mean the difference between life and death.
I'm grateful to be here today to share my story and to continue raising my baby, thanks to Talonda's intervention. Her work with The 4th Trimester MOMMIE is essential - she's ensuring other mothers don't have to fight these battles alone."
- Sarah J., Postpartum Sepsis Survivor
The 4th Trimester MOMMIE has been a blessing during my postpartum period. The at-home care provided by Mrs. Rogers was exceptional. Not only did she visit me in my home and bring a goodie bag, helping support my healing during the postpartum period, but she would constantly check on my newborn and I to make sure we were adjusting well. During this new period in my life, the 4th Trimester MOMMIE made me feel important, secure, and healthy. I would definitely recommend their services to everyone.

"The love, hard work, and dedication that you put into me during one of the hardest times after my last baby, was very appreciative. Thank you isn't even enough to say for how grateful I am." Armani, 5th time mom
